A small committee of volunteers has been working on a project to bring a little romance to Granite Falls for two Saturdays surrounding Valentine’s Day with an event titled “Fall in Love in Granite Falls”, appropriately named after the community’s marketing venture “Fall in Love With Granite Falls”.The idea began with construction of a 10 foot diameter illuminated “full moon” that will be placed just inside the gates to the Riverwalk behind downtown Granite Falls.

People might already know that the 2024 state park vehicle permit sticker features Big Stone Lake State Park, but do they know the story about how the park got selected for the permit?When deciding which park to feature, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources considers several factors and looks to highlight parks from across the state as well as a variety of natural features.
