When Chip Carter spoke about his father, Jimmy, at a memorial service in Atlanta and told how, when his dad noticed the boy got a poor mark in Latin, Jimmy studied Latin so that he could teach his son, I recognized a standard of fatherhood a good deal higher than my own and I felt bad for a moment until I recalled that it wasn’t my father’s level of fatherhood either. He was a father of six kids and I recall that when I got a C in math, it was my problem and he didn’t get involved.

VA’s Veteran Health Administration notifying Veterans whose personal information may have been compromised

The U.S Department of Veterans Affairs’ Veterans Health Administration is sending letters to 1838 Veterans notifying them of the potential disclosure of limited information that may have been sent to another VA patient. No social security numbers or other identifying information other than name were divulged, when Xerox Corp., under contract to VA, experienced a printing error in November.

LCCMR seeking project proposals for $103 million from Minnesota’s Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund

The Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) has issued its 2026 Request for Proposal (RFP) for funding from Minnesota’s Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund (ENRTF). Approximately $103 million from the lottery-generated fund is available for projects that aim to protect, conserve, preserve, and enhance Minnesota’s air, water, land, fish, wildlife, and other natural resources.
