This week, a man involved in an incident that led to an officer shooting in September of 2023 was sentenced in Chippewa County Courts to 84 months in prison, with credit for 423 days already served.
Saturday evening, Marshall based band The Broken Oak led by Jason Moravetz, took the stage at Bluenose Gopher Public House for a free performance. The next live free musical performance takes place this weekend, when The Flute Loops (Marshall based band) takes the stage Friday, January 17th from 7-9 p.m. Betsy Pardick takes the stage for a solo show free to attend on Saturday, January 18th from 7-9 p.m.
I’ve lived here for around four years, and throughout, I have been consistently impressed with the A game Granite Falls brings to its potlucks. “An open invitation to bring a mysterious dish?” people say. “Say no more. Off I go to make homemade buffalo dumplings.” Back in the Cities, on the other hand, I know at least one friend who showed up to a Friendsgiving dinner with a bag of raw sweet potatoes.
At Monday evening’s meeting of the Yellow Medicine East Board of Education, newly elected and re-elected board members took the oath of office. Re-elected Board members are Amanda Lecy, Matthew Zempel, and Sonja Pederson. Newly elected is Abbey Richter.
