Event held in honor of Jepma

On Saturday, the Granite Falls American Legion Post #69 held a special afternoon into evening long event in memory of former manager Rob Jepma. The day included a line-up of musical performances, silent auction, and appetizers. Proceeds from the silent auction benefit Jepma’s family. Jepma passed away unexpectedly in January. He dedicated over 25 years to the Montevideo Fiesta Days celebration, earning two Commodore Awards.

Open Mic night features storytelling

On Friday evening, the monthly Open Mic Night held at the YES! House in downtown Granite Falls featured a variety of storytelling, as guests attending the two-day workshop at the venue led by guest artist JJ Kapur (pictured seated next to his father), shared their “Letters of Love” stories from the workshop. Additional performances included comedy and music. The next Open Mic will be held on Friday, April 11th. Doors open at 6:30 for sign-up with performances beginning at 7 p.m.

I’ve fully committed to yet another year of trying to grow vegetables and herbs. Thus, over the weekend, I carefully went through all of the seed packets, and looked up all the information on starting each individual kind of seed, figuring out which ones need to be started indoors, and which need to be put directly into the ground.
