Soine retires from Fire Department

After serving as a Firefighter, EMR, EMT, Captain, and Assistant Chief for the past 21 years, Eric Soineis retiring from the Granite Falls Fire Department. Soine has paved the way for many future fire department leaders, expecting excellence while focusing on developing and maintaining our most important skills. Serving for the 4th Generation of the family, Eric’s Great Grandpa Formo served in Granite 1943-1961, Grandpas were Fire Chiefs in Granite Falls and Maynard, Eric’s Dad, Curt welcomed him to the fire hall he grew up across the street from in 2004. The Fire Department’s effectiveness on the fire ground, access to quality training, and facilities have improved greatly for generations of firefighters to come because of his work.

Targeted Spray Technology highlighted on “Strategic Farming: Let’s talk crops”

Are you curious about advances in targeted spray technology, or wondering if this system could work for you and actually lead to cost savings? These questions and more were highlighted during a recent UMN Extension “Strategic Farming: Let’s Talk Crops!” program. Dr. Rodrigo Werle, weed scientist with University of Wisconsin-Madison, joined moderator Ryan Miller, UMN Extension educator – crops, for a discussion on “Targeted Spray Technology”, highlighting Dr. Werle’s research around this innovative technology.

MnDOT District 8 awarded highway safety improvement funding

The Minnesota Department of Transportation announces that District 8 in southwest Minnesota, has been awarded $2,686,000 from the Highway Safety Improvement Program for three safety improvement projects within the district. HSIP is a federal-aid funding program designed to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries on public roads. The object of the program is to identify, implement and evaluate cost effective construction safety projects.
