Notes from the Granite Area Arts Council

If you’re reading this, unfortunate news: by the time this paper goes to print, our community artist-in-residence Leah Cook will have left Granite Falls. The upside is that since her goodbye party will already have happened at the Rock on Tuesday, I can safely share that we gave her a whole bunch of sock puppets as a going-away present (unless, of course, I forgot them at home – always a possibility).

Live Well, Age Wisely:

Yesterday I was “supervising” some work in the basement – keeping my friend company who was trying to figure out a water drainage issue. I don’t hang on to a lot of things but since I started writing in journals six years ago, I’ve kept all of them in a bookshelf.

From the Editor’s Desk

Around a month ago, my daughters convinced me that the thing to do was to adopt a puppy from the Hawk Creek Animal Shelter. All of our pets have only ever been rescues, but we have never adopted an actual baby animal. Thus, I underestimated how much effort raising a puppy would entail.

Free rides for Veterans

Prairie Five CAC, Inc. is honored to announce and to be partnering with 6WRTCC, MDAV, Mn-DOT and the five county veterans service officers of Big Stone, Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Yellow Medicine and Swift, in offering free rides to veterans.

“May the God of hope fill you with all the joy and peace in believing.” (Romans 15:13a)

Peace. Peace is something sought after by nations, by leaders, by followers, by almost everyone. If you Google just videos of “how to find peace,” you will find over 97 million results, and on Bing you will find almost 10 billion results. Results that talk about the process of meditation, what to give up, things you should start doing, things you should stop doing, the list goes on and on.
