And in Advent we celebrate the anticipation and coming of Jesus Christ, the Messiah. The word “advent” is from the Latin word adventus which means “coming” or “arrival.”

YME student film to be shown in public screening

Farewell event for Artist in Residence planned The student film “Voices and Views of the River” will be open for two public screenings coming up this month. The first public screening will be held at the Yellow Medicine East auditorium on Tuesday, November 22nd.

In my last article, I explained what sundowning was and some ideas on how to lessen sundowning symptoms. I explained the importance of reducing the stimuli during the evening hours, keeping the house well lit, and planning more active days, as the person who rests all day could likely be more restless at night.

River Ramblings…

The recent grant awards by the Granite Falls Area Community Foundation are a wonderful statement about supporting the community’s needs as well as its dreams. Over $79,000 was given to various organizations and/or causes that will inspire or provide better days for lots of residents, including students in our community.

From the Editor’s Desk

Last week I wrote about my trip to Fort Drum, New York to watch my son’s military promotion ceremony. I mentioned that one full day was spent on the ceremony and everything involved with it, and my final day in Upstate New York was spent helping him learn how to shop like a real broke adult, and helping decorate and organize his home. The day in between all of that (trip days bookmarked by two long, terrible flight days), we spent going on an adventure that we decided needed to be an epic one.
