Minnesota CREP enrollment period ends after 5 years

Yellow Medicine Soil & Water Conservation District The Minnesota CREP (Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program) enrollment period is wrapping up after 5-years. The CREP program is intended to take marginal cropland and provide permanent protection for water through wetland restorations, filter strips and well head protection areas. This is a permanent easement where the landowner retainsownership of the land but can no longer farm or build on the land. CREP easement payments range from $ 4,4008,200 an acre for cropland, they differ for each township and are based on the counties average cost for cropland. The land can be sold at any time after the easement is recorded. If you are selling or have bought RIM ( Reinvest in Minnesota) or CREP land you should contact your local soil and waterto make sure they change the name on the easement, so the new owners get all the future documents. The Board of Water and Soil Resource’s (BWSR) original goal was to restore up to 60,000 acres over 54 counties in southern Minnesota through CREP but will likely end around 40,000 due to funds running out. Volunteer firefighter notices fire, rescues dog

Submitted At 10:45 AM on July 31, 2022 Granite Falls Fire and Rescue was paged for mutual aid with Clarkfield Fire Department to a working house fire. Clarkfield Ambulance, Yellow Medicine County Sheriff’s Office, and MinnesotaState Patrol also responded to the scene.
