What seemed, in the beginning, like a nearly impossible goal to meet, raising $290,000 in order to install a new, special playground at Rice Park, has now nearly been accomplished. With only around $42,000 left to raise, the Granite Falls Area Community Foundation has ordered the equipment, and it is on its way to be installed sometime this fall. The foundation is now in its final push to raise the last of the funds for the project, knowing that if they don’t, the foundation itself has funds on hand to cover it, but hoping to raise the final funds without allocating the foundations account funds to it. The funds in the Community Foundation’s account are used annually to award grants to those who apply for projects in need of a final push for funding throughout the year.
