DNR offers advice for dealing with storm damaged trees

Cleanup following a storm can be an overwhelming task for homeowners. If trees have been damaged, knowing which to save and which to remove can enhance people’s safety and the survival of remaining trees, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

At a recent meeting of the Granite Falls City Council, the council was informed that YME Art students had completed and donated a sculpture of a pelican to be placed near the river in Granite Falls. The sculpture, titled “Tim...Todd’s Friend” was created by Ethan Kamps, Will Lecy, Jacob Peterson and Emma Molbostad and is located currently along the riverwalk. Nearby, the windows of Heather’s Book Nook have been decorated with more YME student art, with the exhibit “Circus Absurdus”, created by Rachel Cisneros, Isabell Cisneros, Yolanda Cisneros, and Vanessa Ochoa assisted by Aerial Hagen, Josie Pederson, Alyssa Moe, Angel Ross, Madasyn Ludwig, and Art Teacher Mrs. Isfeld. Yellow Medicine County Museum hosts 150th anniversary exhibit

In celebration of Yellow Medicine County’s 150th anniversary, the Yellow Medicine County Museum in Granite Falls is featuring a special exhibit with a focus on the townships. Yellow Medicine County was established in 1852, when the United States Government established the Yellow Medicine Agency for the Upper Sioux.

The time has come for my Grandma’s last shipment of cookies to land somewhere overseas. For the entirety of my son’s deployment, my Grandmother has been on a mission. It started with her sending a batch of cookies to him, as she had been sending to him since his arrival at Fort Drum. Upon receiving his first shipment of “Grandma Cookies” overseas, he promptly distributed cookies to as many soldiers as he could, wanting to spread the grandmotherly love to boost morale.
