Meeghen Dahlager Receives Dean’s List honors from Bemidji State University

Bemidji State University Meeghen Dahlager from Granite Falls, MN, earned Dean’s List honors from Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minn., at the conclusion of the Fall 2021 semester. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, Bemidji State University students must be enrolled for at least 12 credits and earn a minimum of a 3.5 GPA during the semester.

University of Minnesota Twin Cities The following students have been named to the 2021 fall semester Dean’s List at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, the university announced recently. To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must complete 12 or more letter-graded credits while attaining a 3.66 grade point average.

Yellow Medicine Soil and Water Conservation District news

As you are preparing yourselves to head out to your favorite fishing spot, remember to take precautions to keep our waters free of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS). Lakes in Yellow Medicine County, and the rest of non-lakes country, are fortunate to have relatively low levels of traffic year round. Recently, the Yellow Medicine Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) found that the main boat ramps at Wood Lake near Timm County Park and at Del Clark Lake closest to the entrance averaged about 10 watercraft trailers entering and leaving the water daily. On holiday weekends, such as Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, that number rockets to over one hundred per day for those two access points. All other public accesses in the county see about one trailer entering and leaving the water on any given day through the season. The SWCD’s central concern in our area is folks moving species from a lake in another county or state, and bringing them to local waters.

National Weather Service looking for area volunteers

National Weather Service How heavy was the rain overnight? How much snow fell during the winter storm? How bad is the drought this year? The National Weather Service is looking for additional volunteers to record and share measurements of precipitation. The addition of even a few observers across the area will lead to a more accurate picture of the weather’s impact.

Man vs Golf You know how sometimes you go to visit your parents but you don’t want to stay with them because, you know, they’re your parents? But it’s also spring break for the kiddos so you dish out a little more scratch than usual and stay not just at a hotel but a resort with a full-on water park, with lots of pools and water slides galore? And you know how the first few days are good, clean family fun, swimming during the days, seeing the folks in the evening but then you learn that the resort offers something else and that something else is… golf? And you know how halfway through your stay, the PGA walks in like they own the joint? I hate it when that happens. One minute, parking is first come first serve, the next it’s: Are you with the Open? Oh, you’re not with the Open.

YME Trap team meets in cold, windy conditions

The YME Trap Team shot in freezing, windy conditions Sunday, April 3rd. As you can see, the shooters are bundled up, but they got their rounds in before the snowfall. They shot very well considering and we are very proud of their determination. Safety is always the first priority so when there is a gun jammed, Head Coach Jeff Berthelsen steps right up to the shooter to figure out the issue. Fix or replace what is needed so the athlete can continue to shoot and finish their round. Athletes are not allowed to leave their stations on the field when there is an issue. All athletes enter and leave the field at the same time in formation.
