From the Editor’s Desk

Welcome to the first week of the new look of the Advocate Tribune! As I’ve been noting in our newspapers for the last couple of months, this week readers will officially be able to see the first of the changes to come under CherryRoad Media’s ownership. Our team’s efforts have been underway for some time to bring this new look together, and I’ve been anxiously awaiting the point of reveal.

Beyond Reason

Spring Break 2022! They say it’s gonna be epic! But is it? Let us consider. Spring Break is a strangely named week in March wherein the schools, the same ones that were hitherto educating our children, for some inexplicable reason, set them free.

“One thing I asked of the Lord…”

How do we ask something of the God? We pray. Merriam-Webster. com defines prayer as an address (such as a petition) to God or a god in word or thought, and an earnest request or wish. I learned to pray when I was too little to remember when I learned to pray. It feels like I’ve always known I should pray. I’ve always been comfortable talking to God about what I want. I’ve prayed prayers of praise to God for the joys of all creation I get to experience. I’ve prayed prayers of thanks to God for many good things I’ve received. I’ve prayed prayers of lament when I shout out to God that I am unhappy with the way things are turning out.

The band has toured around the United States, as well as a six-week tour across Europe in 2021. “We’ll be pretty much wherever anyone will want or have us,” Dittmeier.

Walking bridge lit yellow and blue for Ukraine

On Sunday evening, the City of Granite Falls lit the walking bridge in yellow and blue in a show of unity with Ukraine in the current conflict with Russia. There is no date set for when the lights will change color, but the City has noted it could stay yellow and blue until St. Patrick's Day. PHOTO SUBMITTED

FROM THE EDITOR

Last week, I wrote about how this week was going to have a whole new look. If you read that, and saw the front page this week, you're probably thinking "what the heck?" (I said heck, yes, because we're probably mostly Minnesotan here). Well, shortly after last week's paper went to print, it was announced that we would be working with the former company's systems for just one more week. Thus, no new look just yet.
