Part One of a Series: Norma Lucille Hanson Luedke Kennedy Norma Lucille Hanson was born in Granite Falls on 03-30-28. Her parents were Ludwig and Nellie (Dotseth) Hanson, whose families were early homesteaders in Yellow Medicine County, and very involved in the early days of the communities of Clarkfield, Normania, and Spring Creek.

Incoming spring brings rise in crime rates

At Monday evening’s meeting of the Granite Falls City Council, Police Chief Brian Struffert submitted a report of March activities in the Police Department. In his report, Chief Struffert noted that the department had been working to locate a Minnesota Department of Corrections fugitive that was known to be staying at residences within Granite Falls City limits. On March 9th, one of the officers observed the fugitive driving in an area he was known to frequent.

In case you’re wondering why I was not in church Sunday morning, I was in the Omaha airport at 6:30 a.m. waiting for a flight back to New York, listening to an announcement that unattended baggage would be confiscated, eating a breakfast croissant and blueberry yogurt, drinking coffee, which came to $19.74, which happens to be the year I started doing my old radio show.

Local duo take lead in standard doubles in Reno

Chad Reimer (Granite Falls) and Justin Weckwerth (Montevideo) come from small towns in western Minnesota where everyone knows your name. On Tuesday night at the National Bowling Stadium, they were able to put together a score of 1,136 to take the lead in Standard Doubles at the 2023 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships, giving the bowling world the chance to know their names.
