New community education program offered on creating theater

A Crash Course in Creating Theater is a community education program being offered this spring in Granite Falls. Mark Roisen, one of the people spearheading this program, and others, are working with COMPAS - a statewide arts program based out of Saint Paul that has existed for nearly 50 years.

YME girls defeat Dawson-Boyd in home game

Last Tuesday, the Yellow Medicine East girls basketball team took home a Camden Conference victory over Renville County West, 90-50 in Renville. Leaders in the game included Stella Schuler who scored twenty points with six rebounds, while Hannah Stark added 19 points, with a three-pointer, eight rebounds, and six steals to the team total.

Local author Brent Olson at Dawson Public Library January 19th

Dawson-Boyd Arts Association presents Minnesota author Brent Olson at the Dawson Public Library Mezzanine at 7pm on Thursday, January 19 at 7pm. Olson, a lifelong resident of Big Stone County, has published eight books and as a journalist, has filed articles from 20 countries on six continents.

Chance of snow in the forecast

I hope everyone enjoyed the mild temperatures over the weekend. We had plenty of low to mid 30s across much of the state, while southern Minnesota saw some upper 30s and lower 40s! These temperatures were 15 to 20 degrees warmer than average for this time of the year.

Local students named to MSU Moorhead Dean’s list

The following students have been named to the Minnesota State University Moorhead dean’s list in recognition of academic achievement fall semester 2022. Students must maintain a 3.25 or higher gradepoint average and carry 12 graded credits to qualify for the honor.
