Annual Pezihutazizi Oyate Traditional Wacipi held

Over the weekend, the annual Upper Sioux Community traditional Wacipi was held. The event is a cultural tradition that includes the gathering of generations to celebrate life, pride and honor. The word “Wacipi” means “they dance” in Dakota Language.

In a mid-summer garden update, I have now successfully grown a tomato plant. Not just any tomato plant, but a cherry tomato behemoth. A leafy, sprawling monster that has overtaken one of the two raised garden beds as though it hopes to soon audition for the “Little Shop of Horrors; Granite Falls edition”.

CROP Taskforce Announces Availability of Local Grant Funding

The Community Response to Opioids Program (CROP) Taskforce, serving Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Swift, and Yellow Medicine counties, is announcing that Round II of Local Grant Funding is now available for local organizations to apply for, through September 15, 2025. The CROP Taskforce is dedicated to advancing local solutions that save lives and support individuals, families, and communities impacted by substance use.

Fifth annual Bluenose Gopher 50 gravel Road Bike Race held

Bluenose Gopher Public House hosted its 5th annual Bluenose Gopher 50 Gravel Road Bike Race on Saturday, July 26th. The event was made possible by a group of volunteers and sponsors, The YES! House, FM Bank, The Bike Shop Marshall, Grandview Valley Winery, MN Trails Magazine. Prizes were awarded to the top three finishers by The Bike Shop, Marshall. Winners were as follows:
