On August 16th and 17th, the Fagen Fighters WWII Museum is hosting “Victory at Sea” in honor of the Navy and Marine 250th anniversary. This year’s event will be honoring, in particular, America’s last living WWII Navy Ace, Donald M. McPherson, who will be traveling from his home in Nebraska to the Fagen Fighters World War II Museum.
The Chippewa County Fair is scheduled this year for Wednesday, July 30th through Sunday, August 3rd. Merriams Midway Show returns to host the carnival each day. The Texas-based company has been in business for two generations. The carnival opens July 30th at 6 p.m., and opens again Thursday and Friday at 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday hours begin early, opening at 1 p.m.

August is National Breastfeeding Month! At Countryside Public Health, we’re here to support you on your breastfeeding journey. We offer resources like the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) nutrition program and have trained nurses called Designated Breastfeeding Experts who can provide education, guidance, and encouragement.

Last week, I noticed a person walking into one of our local establishments carrying a sign that I found rather amusing, admitting on cardboard in big black marker letters that they were seeking funds for specific wipes for a specific part of their body. I recalled seeing the same person last summer, because of the amusing sign.The person also carried an instrument.
