DANA JOHN LEWISON (DANNY)

Dana John Lewison (Danny) was born on May 26, 1954, in Granite Falls, the son of Howard and Judith (Knutson) Lewison. As a toddler Dana became afflicted with relentless seizures that stole his voice and abilities. Dana’s parents sought treatment all over the Midwest to help Dana to no avail. When Dana was six years old, they made the hard decision to send him to live and receive care and treatment at Cambridge State Hospital and later Willmar State Hospital. In 1993,

Garrison Keillor and Friends

When you bang up your knee so it swells up like an elephant’s and it brings tears to your eyes to take a step, the orthopedic guy gives you a knee brace to wear requiring four straps to be wrapped tight around the leg and hooked and held tight by Velcro strips, a piece of equipment that I, a professional humorist with less mechanical ability than the average primate, need to remove every night when I go to bed and reattach in the morning. My wife could do this in a jiffy but I made her go to Minnesota to play the opera (she’s a violist) because I love her and because I don’t want her to see me as a pitiful helpless wretch.

Last weekend saw showers and thunderstorms push across parts of the region. Southern Minnesota even had a slight risk of severe weather due to the warm temperatures, elevated dew points, and a cold-front pushing through that moist environment. Tornado touches down northeast of Granite Falls

As prom drive-up was happening Saturday evening, the National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado touched-down northeast of Granite Falls. The brief touchdown caused some structural damage of outbuildings at a farm. Weather enthusiast and storm chaser Tyler Olson of New London caught not only a photo of the funnel cloud spotted northeast of Granite Falls, but also a video of the tornado causing damage to a shed. Follow the QR code to see the video. There were four tornados, including one that touched-down briefly in Renville County, and in Kandiyohi County. The storm system was the first to produce tornado warnings this season.
