Minnesota West graduates 555 students

Minnesota West Community & Technical College Granite Falls Campus commencement will include a procession of graduates and their friends and families held at the Yellow Medicine East High School Gymnasium. Reception is at The Rock, Granite Falls.

Local students graduate MSUM

Minnesota State University Moorhead will award degrees to more than 800 students during its spring commencement program Friday, May 12, in the university’s Nemzek Fieldhouse. This includes 185 graduate students.

Question- Are drivers required to use turn signals when entering or exiting a roundabout? With a newly constructed roundabout very recently opened in town, I have not once observed a turn signal used. What is the law? Answer-This is a great question as we are seeing more roundabouts in the state of Minnesota.

CAIR program about to begin 2023 season

The Granite Falls Community Artist in Residence program, also known as GF CAIR, is amping up to begin their 2023 season. Last season in 2022, the GF CAIR was Leah Cook, of Maine, and as the GF CAIR’s Communications and Creative Marketing Director Lyndsey Eckhardt said, “Following the wonderful CAIR artist Leah Cook’s 14-week residency in 2022, a lot was learned and a lot was gained.” While Cook’s residency was 14 weeks long, the next CAIR artist residency stay will be for six months.

New watershed board of directors member appointed

Editor jstolen-jacobson@cherryroad.com At Tuesday morning’s meeting of the Yellow Medicine County Board of Commissioners, one of the topics of discussion was the appointment of a new member to serve on the Lac Qui Parle Yellow Bank Watershed Board of Managers. The appointment is for the remainder of a three-year term ending January 1, 2024. There were three applicants in total, with one of the applicants living outside of the Watershed’s district.

Clarkfield library director retires after nearly 32 years

On May 19th, Enola Rolla will retire from her position as the Director of the Clarkfield Public Library after nearly 32 years of service. Enola began working at the library September 19th, 1991. At the time, she was fairly new to town, and saw the listing for a part-time librarian. “I thought well, I love to read books and that might be a way to get to know people because I was fairly new to town,” she says. In 1993, Enola became the library’s Director.
