Last Tuesday, the Yellow Medicine East boys varsity basketball team took on Lakeview for a 45-58 loss. Leaders in the game included Bryce Sneller who scored 14 points, seven rebounds and two steals while DJ Whitebuffalo added another 11 points with one block to the teams total. Jessie Hennen We’re doing it again, everyone: in 2023, Granite Falls will host its third artist-in-residence. This program is unique in a few ways, not least of which is that it’s the only one (as far as we know) in a city of this size.
Four years after its formation, the Yellow Medicine East Horticulture Club celebrated its fourth annual succulent sale last Friday. Fifteen members of the club work on growing succulents for the annual sale that was held last week at Bluenose Gopher Public House. “It’s constant - taking clippings off to propogate new ones,” says Instructor Darrel Refsland. “We take the parent plant and we never have to buy them again because we just keep making our own. We don’t stop propogating.”
The short, immersive film experience, “Eye Can’t Do This” is the brainchild of Dana Conroy, of the Granite Falls area, who is a video artist that also works at Pioneer PBS on the Postcards series. Conroy’s film was inspired by her own real life events with a Lasik eye surgery gone wrong a couple of years ago.
Last Thursday, the Yellow Medicine East Girls Varsity Basketball team hosted Westbrook-Walnut-Grove for a 57-52 victory. Leaders in the game included Ruby Bones scoring 19 points with 11 rebounds, two blocks while Hannah Stark scored 11 points with eight rebounds to add to the team total.
