Alee Services employees to take part in Polar Plunge

Alee Services participated in the Polar Plunge on Saturday, February 4th. Alee Services was represented at the Polar Plunge from several of the counties the that Alee Services provides services for. Jumping for Alee Services Clarkfield were Heather and Mark Claeys, Shawn Giles, Hayden Johnson, Gabby Fonkert, Cydney Manning, Gaven Manning and Sally Westre. The Polar Plunge was held in St. Peter. The money raised by Alee Clarkfield will go to support the State Special Olympics and the Granite Falls Special Olympics equestrian program. Mark and Heather Claeys raised $600 themselves. They were the top fundraisers from Clarkfield. The whole Clarkfield group raised $1,845.

Free lefse making class held

Sharla Bengtson helps community members who signed up for a free lefse making class held at the Kilowatt Community Center last Wednesday. Bengtson showed participants the tips and tricks for how to make the best batch of lefse, and participants were able to take a couple of pieces of lefse home. YME boys basketball team takes on BOLD, Minneota

Last week, the Yellow Medicine East boys varsity basketball team took on BOLD in Bird Island for a 4677 loss. Leaders in the game included Bryce Sneller, scoring 10 points with four rebounds, two assists while Cody Dahlager added another 10 points to the team total.

South Central College fall academic honors list

South Central College (SCC) today released its President’s List and Dean’s List of students with exceptional academic performance in the 2022 Fall Semester, which ran from August - December, 20222. The President’s List includes students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.8 or higher and have completed at least 24 cumulative credits at SCC. The Dean’s List includes students who have achieved a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher and completed at least 12 credits that semester. Because the President’s and Dean’s Lists have different criteria, students may be named to both in the same semester.

Use the winter to prepare for spring turkey hunting

Imagine sitting in the woods on a spring morning with wildflowers in bloom, trees budding bright green and birds overhead migrating back to Minnesota. Then a turkey gobbles in the distance, responding to a turkey call.

McGrath named to Dean’s list

Kelsey McGrath of Hazel Run has been named to the Deans’ List at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the fall semester of the 2022-23 academic year. McGrath, a sophomore majoring in sociology, was named to the Dean’s List for the College of Arts and Sciences.
