This year’s Meander Art Crawl (October 1st and 2nd) will see the return of a number of artists who have exhibited for many years, including Kristi Link Fernholz. She first exhibited with the Meander in 2004, making this year her 18th year.
The Yellow Medicine East Senior Girls took on the Junior Girls in the annual Powder Puff game held in honor of Homecoming Week on Monday evening. The Senior girls won with a score of 12-6.
The Yellow Medicine East Cross Country team took part in the Marshall Invitational at the Marshall Golf Course last Tuesday, with the girls taking 10th place. Leaders in the event included Sanjana Pullan, who finished with a time of 23:30.5 in 22nd place for the girls team, and Dylan Castillo who finished with a score of 20:44.3 in 50th place for the boys team. Scoring from that event follows: Top Five Scorers Girls: (22) Sanjana Pullan, 23:30.5, (23) Anjeli Pullan, 23:32.4, (56) Karina Jahn, 30:06.0, (58) Evelyn Martin, 32:47.3, (59) Bella Anderson, 33:48.2.
The Yellow Medicine East Volleyball team traveled to Renville to take on Renville County West last Tuesday evening for a 2-3 loss. Leaders in that game included Ruby Bones who scored nine kills, five ace blocks and Hannah Stark who scored 13 kills.
The Crime Victim Services program of New Horizons Crisis Center has been awarded a community impact grant from the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) in the amount of $32,500. These funds will be used by them to provide advocacy, support and empowerment to those whose lives are impacted by sexual assault and general crime. They will also work to reduce the occurrence and impact of crime and victimization in our communities. This work aligns with UWSWMN’s safety and well-being priority area.
