Week: When it comes to walking, there’s no magic formula for how many steps, miles, or hours you have to walk to lose the amount of weight that you want. Starting out, the key is to do more than you’re doing now. If you have a job where you’re on your feet all day, you have to do more than that. If you have a sedentary desk job, a walk every evening after dinner may show real results. A lot has been said about getting a baseline of about 10,000 steps a day for health reasons. If your goal is weight loss, you’ll likely want more than that once you get into a routine, but you don’t need to start there. Get your baseline first, and keep adding to that.

Leah Cook Granite Falls Artist in Residence When I crossed into Minnesota from Canada, the Customs officer at International Falls seemed pretty perplexed by me. I’d driven from Maine? Through Canada? For an artist’s residency? He looked between me and my passport and my packed car more than a few times as he processed the things he wanted to ask.

Wayne’s Standard celebrates 50 years in business

His daily commute to work brought him past the Standard Oil station in Hanley Falls, and after a year of driving past it, he decided he wanted to open his own shop.

Drink 182 to perform at upcoming RockFest

The band consists of three members - Jeremiah Witucki (on bass and vocals), Lance Saxerud (drums), and Jake Johnson (guitar and vocals).
