During the COVID-19 pandemic shut-down, a group of community members in Granite Falls began holding meetings over Zoom to discuss the idea of constructing a dog park in town. Committee member Luwaina Al-Otaibi says the idea began when the former EDA Director reached out to her asking about starting a dog park, and getting a group together who may be interested in it.

William “Willie” Upton, 81, of Granite Falls passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022, at his home surrounded by family. Visitation will be held Friday, June 3, 2022 from 3-5 p.m. at Wing-Bain Funeral Home and the celebration will continue at the Granite Falls Golf Course.
Kem Black, 64, of Sacred Heart passed away at the Granite Falls Hospital on Monday, May 23, 2022. A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Savannah Villarreal, 17, of Sacred Heart passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at her home. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls with interment following at First English Lutheran Cemetery near Sacred Heart. Visitation was Wednesday, June 1, 2022 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls and will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Alice Lukken, 97, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Nelson Gables Assisted Living in Alexandria. Alice was born on April 17, 1924 in Riverside Township to Andrew and Hilma (Lee) Westgaard.
Marjorie Hegna, 88, of Granite Falls passed away on Sunday, May 29 at her residence. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 6 at 11 a.m. at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home in Granite Falls and continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Karen June Sell, 82, of Willmar died Thursday, May 26 at Carris Health Care Center in Willmar. Her funeral service was at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 1 at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.
