
YME softball team defeats Montevideo
Last Tuesday, the Yellow Medicine East Softball team took on Canby in a home game for a 5-10 loss. Leaders in that game included Aria Peters who was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Complete scoring from that game follows:

The YME boys golf team hosted a triangular at the Granite Run Golf Course last Thursday. The team took third place with a score of 204. Nick Moritz took second place with a score of 38 for the team. Complete scoring follows:
The YME boys tennis team defeated Redwood Valley in an away match last Tuesday 4-3.With the win, the team’s season total was 7-5, bringing them into the Section 3A tournament on Monday. Scoring from that match follows:
On Thursday, June 2nd, the Makers Market resumes their summer craft and vendor show on the downtown Riverwalk. At the first event, live music will be provided by Kindred Spirits, and a variety of vendors from throughout the area will be on hand to provide an opportunity for shopping unique, and handmade goods.
Yellow Medicine East seniors Hunter Bahr, Patrick Hoernemann and Tarin Gatchell are all graduating this spring with Eagle Scouts status. The three all joined Cub Scouts in 2010 and worked their way through earning badges and Eagle Scout status throughout the years together.
The first of four summer Charity Barrel Series was held at Lee-Mar Ranch Equine Center last Thursday. The event is held to raise funds for the 501c3 charitable organization that aims to improve the quality of life for those utilizing their therapeutic riding programs. The series was open to youth from groups labeled pee-wee and up. Additional events will be held June 8th and June 29th. On July 20th, the finals will be held. In the Hundred Acre Wood, during the season of spring, you will find Piglet spring cleaning, beating his rugs outside his tree house. Some say spring cleaning comes from Persian New Year (first day of Spring) or the Jewish anticipation of Passover. Others say it’s just the first time you can leave the windows open. Either way, it’s the time to streamline. But how?
Whenever I have the opportunity to look through the newspaper’s archive books, I’m more than happy to spend hours leafing through the pages. While leafing through the Advocate Tribune archives I’ve come across classmates and photographs from my years at Yellow Medicine East. There’s even a photograph of me in the fifth grade at the school’s spelling bee.
