Track teams compete at BOLD Invitational

Last Tuesday, the Yellow Medicine East Track and Field team took part in the BOLD/BLHS Invitational. The girls team took third place with a final score of 120, while the boys took fourth with a score of 142.

Tennis team defeats Osakis, MACCRAY

Last week, the Yellow Medicine East boys tennis team defeated Osakis 5-2 in an away game. Leaders in that event included Jackson Torgerson, Derrick Lien, and Ryan Syring who all won in singles matches. Scoring from that event follows: Singles:

Boys golf team takes second place

Last Tuesday, the YME boys golf team took part in the Minneota Invitational at Countryside Golf Club. The team finished in 5th place with a score of 350. The top scorers for the team at that event were: 14th Place Cooper McCosh 85, 16th Place Nick Moritz 87, 18th Place James Peterson 88, 26th Place Nikson Knapper 90.

Baseball team defeats CMCS

Last week, the Yellow Medicine East Baseball team took on Dawson-Boyd in a home game for a 2-3 loss. Pitching in the game was Nikson Knapper, who struck out ten, walking two in seven innings. Scoring for that game follows:

As I was under a heavy blanket in my basement, (a friend had texted and said, “Get down there NOW and cover yourself so you don’t get hit with flying debris!”) I thought about a column I had written a couple years ago about emergency preparedness. And I was kicking myself for thinking, “I will get this taken care of later.” It was later and my only flashlight was in my car (with waning batteries, I later found out), my important documents were in various places so I ran and grabbed what I could remember and found a candle.

National Weather says a “derecho” produced multiple tornadoes

I think many people across the state of Minnesota are still in disbelief about the weather that hit the state last Thursday. The National Weather says a “derecho” produced “at least six different tornadoes” in eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota last Thursday.

Lincoln County collaboration supports project impacting Yellow Medicine River water quality

Lincoln County Soil & Water Conservation District A conservation-minded landowner found a permanent fix for the perennial erosion that robbed his Lincoln County field of topsoil when local, state and federal partners collaborated on a project too extensive for any one of them to take on alone. Randy Janiszeski’s 120-acre Alta Vista Township field drained a 150-acre watershed in the hills above the North Branch Yellow Medicine River.
