Tamera “Tammy” Lynn (Johnson) Berg

Tamera “Tammy” Lynn (Johnson) Berg, 55, of Clarkfield passed away peacefully at the St. Cloud Hospital on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, after a brain hemorrhage took her much too soon. She was surrounded by her husband, daughters, parents, sister, nieces, and grandson, as well as the hopes and prayers of so many who loved her.

Barb Benson, 81, of Granite Falls passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022, at the Granite Falls Health Care Center. Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Wing-Bain Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Barbara (Burch) Breuer

Barbara Ann Breuer was born on February 17, 1938 to Duane and Elsie (Quirk) Burch in Pipestone. She was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church and attended school in Pipestone. On August 27, 1955, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Breuer.

YME Trap team has 15 signed up for State Championship

The Yellow Medicine East Trap Team has 15 athletes signed up for the Alexandria State Championship. So far, the team has four Jr. Varsity and 11 Novice shooters. That is equal to two full squads to bring home a team win in the novice classification. The JV shooters could potentially have one of the novice shooter’s reach a JV average before the conference competition is over.

YME Golf team takes third at Canby Invitational

The YME Boys Golf team traveled to Canby for an Invitational last Tuesday, taking home third place. Leaders in that event were Nick Moritz, scoring 40, and earning a medal in a three-way tie.

YME baseball team defeats RTR 4-1

Last Tuesday, the YME Baseball team took on Russell-Tyler-Ruthton for an away game victory. The team finished with a score of 4-1.

What our schools mean to our communities

Schools function as their own community within a community, but they also serve to significantly improve the communities they serve in many ways. Schools not only provide education for the youth in the community, but also provide opportunities for adults through community education classes offered on the site - whether it be night classes, enrichment, or an open gym to get exercise in during the cold months.
