Jordan Berends joins Westberg Eischens

Ridgewater Community & Technical College

Ridgewater College is proud to announce that its Peace Officer program recently received reaccreditation from the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training. The accreditation process requires nearly a year of intensive evaluation of courses, curriculum, and processes of the two-year associate of applied science degree formerly known as Law Enforcement.

Minnesota poultry sales and exhibitions temporarily banned for 31 days

Due to multiple detections of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in Minnesota and surrounding states, the Minnesota Board of Animal Health is issuing a 31-day statewide ban on all poultry sales and exhibitions effective Friday, April 1 through Sunday, May 1. The ban includes all poultry community sales, swaps, fairs, exhibitions and other events where poultry and susceptible birds are brought together. The current H5N1 HPAI outbreak in Minnesota poses a high risk to poultry but low risk to the public and there is no food safety concern for consumers.

Earth Day clean-up

Around a year ago, Nicole Zempel, Luwaina Al-Otaibi and Andy Holt started a movement on Facebook known as the Granite Green Team for the purpose of providing information on items like pollinator friendly yards, as well as inspiring efforts in the community for trash pick-up.

Falls Nutrition opens in downtown Granite Falls

Bri and Sergio Morales originally wanted to open a business in Willmar, thinking that a larger population may equal a larger customer base. When a mentor offered them a suggestion to open in a small town, instead, because of the stronger sense of community, the couple took that advice and opened their first business in Renville.
