Plant it forward this Arbor Month

A single tree can offer shade, wildlife habitat, and a place for neighbors to gather. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources invites all Minnesotans to celebrate Arbor Day and Arbor Month by planting trees and connecting with their neighbors under this year’s theme, “Plant It Forward: A tree planted today grows a stronger community tomorrow.”

Thee Dr. Kathleen Jordan Project is very active in 2025. The successful 2024 tribute event, attended by almost 1000 people, launched many new activities.

YME Track and Field competes in invitationals

Last week, the Yellow Medicine East Varsity Track & Field team traveled to Tracy to compete in the Panther Invitational. The girls team took home the 8th place spot with a score of 38 while the boys team scored 44 points, also taking the 8th place spot. Top three scorers follows:

YME baseball defeats Lac qui Parle Valley

Last week, the Yellow Medicine East Boys Varsity Baseball played a double-header, first taking on Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove for a 0-5 loss at home. Leaders in that game included Gavin Torvik who was 1-for-3 with a double. Complete scoring follows:

Temps in the high 70s for the weekend

The Storm Prediction Center put on their assessment last week about the potential for a severe storm outbreak ranging from the Central Plains to here in the Upper Midwest. This storm did materialize and brought severe weather here in Minnesota.
