Fire Chief gives annual update

At Monday evenings meeting of the Granite Falls City Council, Fire Chief Jeremy LeBlanc was in attendance to give an annual update on the Fire Department.

I teach a dozen confirmation kids. They are quite good kids, but not unlike me when I was that age…it isn’t always an exciting topic to learn about or to teach. So, I add art and creative things for them to do to try to help them remember our topics. For our last project they each created a string art cross. It wasn’t an easy task, they had to press pushpins into a wood board in the shape of a cross, then they used string to make a design between the pins. They all turned out so cool!

It’s difficult to recap a potluck you couldn’t make it to (I was visiting family in the Cities), but I will try: our January Ole & Lena smorgasbord went well, at least judging from the rest of GAAC’s responses to the email Karen thoughtfully sent out to make sure we diversified the foods on offer.

MNPAiR artists present ideas for Memorial Park art at council meeting

At last weeks meeting of the Granite Falls City Council, MNPAiR artists Tamara Isfeld and John Sterner were in attendance to provide the council with an overview of the work they have been doing towards an art installation that will be housed in Memorial Park.

Annual Firemen’s Dance and Raffle held

Last week, the annual Granite Falls Firemen’s Dance and Raffle was held, hosted by Upper Sioux Community at Prairie’s Edge Casino Resort. The event included a concert by two bands, with headliner Hinder.
