Final Makers Market of the season held

The final Makers Market on the River Walk was held on Thursday, August 4th. Vendors lined the River Walk while the band Machine Hill played live music for Makers Market goers. There was a graphic designer, a candle maker, an author, and a baker among many other artisans offering their goods for sale. Makers Market will resume next summer.

Notes from the Granite Area Arts Council

Jessie Hennen Granite Area Arts Council Last week’s first-ever Open Studio hours at the Makers on the Minnesota gallery (every Thursday from 2-5pm!) were a rousing success… in that they coincided with our CAIR staff meeting, which meant the people who run your community artist in residence program talked shop for a while, then headed to the basement of the building to spray-paint its pillars with colorful designs. It was a productive session: we came up with a lot of potential slogans for our program! Though the spray paint fumes were intense and my notes are – well – somewhat less than legible, I think I canmake out a few…“GF CAIR 2.0: Art!‘Cause why not?”“We’re all just puppets, man.” “Group of people come together to make things sometimes!
