M E Fuller Montevideo author and writing coach will lead a writing workshop for all skill levels at the SW MN Arts Council annual artist retreat at the Danebod Folk School in Tyler. The description for the workshop reads, “Open the door to your imagination as we expose hidden secrets of murder, mystery, mayhem, and all manner of suspense in the workshop, How to Write a Cozy Mystery (and anything else)”.
The Granite Falls Green Team met with community volunteers on Saturday for a trash pick-up afternoon around the Yellow Medicine County Museum and Highway 23, as well as Memorial Park. Organizer Nicole Zempel said the event was a great success, with 13 people collecting around twenty 30-gallon trash bags from surrounding ditches, outcrops and river banks.
Minnesota’s Machinery Museum in Hanley Falls held its annual meeting Friday evening in the Hanley Falls Fire Hall. The meeting was the first to be held since the COVID-19 pandemic was declared in March of 2020.

When I started my career, I lived in California. I grew up in Sacramento, a town of 1,000,000. I later moved to a small town up north, Redding. Redding was a town with a population of 100,000 where the shock of living in such a “small town” was difficult to adjust to. In these towns, I’ve worked around journalism for the past 25 years. I have always loved journalism. It is the reason I sought my first job in newspapers (Accounting), just so I could be near the printed word in the hopes that maybe someday, my words could be on the page.
