“…for the wind passes over it, and it is gone…” Psalm 103:16a
Today I am writing from the second highest location in Cottonwood County. I am at Shalom Hill Farm, about 17 miles north west of Windom, overlooking miles of Minnesota prairie. One of the common elements of nature residing here is the wind. There’s something about a prairie wind. I feel it often at Bergen and St. Lucas churches when I’m there.

Memory Care Corner: Fish and Frontotemporal Dementia…
When people hear the word dementia, they immediately think of Alzheimer’s Disease – and rightly so, as Alzheimer’s Disease is the most common form of dementia. “Do not cast me off…” Psalm 27:9c
I was reading the psalm for this next Sunday (the 2nd Sunday in Lent) and the plea to God, “Do not cast me off” is what caught my attention. Live Well, Age Wisely: How do you handle stress?
What caught my attention most during the Medicare Open Enrollment last fall didn’t have anything to do with insurance coverage options. During the nearly two-month period, I met with hundreds of people and almost all expressed concerns or anxiety about the current state of affairs, the direction in which the country was headed, and what the future might hold. It didn’t matter which side of the political aisle, just about everyone seemed to feel similarly and share in a larger sense of unease.

“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord…you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
Being saved can mean different things to different people. Some may feel saved if they don’t have to do something they don’t like to do—like “I was saved from taking the test being the blizzard kept us home.” While others might feel saved if they are able to do things they don’t want to do—like “I didn’t want to go but it turned out that lecture saved me from failing the test.” But being saved as in saved to gain eternal salvation is a whole different kind of being saved.
