Granite Falls artist Tamara Isfeld worked on mosaics to be placed at Memorial Park during this year’s Meander event while displaying her paintings at the Granite Area Arts Council. The mosaics will be placed on the exterior of the bathroom building at Memorial Park once completed and feature local wildlife and plants. The project is a part of the MNPAiR program that Isfeld and local artist John Sterner took part in this year. As a part of the program, Isfeld and Sterner also hosted a series of free, all-ages welcome workshops at the park with a variety of artistic themes such as mosaics, plein air painting and ceramics. In addition, carved wooden sculptures representing the elements of earth, wind, sky and fire will be installed at the park. The MNPAiR program (Minnesota Parks Artists in Residence) was launched in 2024 by three parks and trails partners within the state’s Clean Water, Land and Legacy Fund: the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Parks and Trails Division, and Metropolitan Council Regional Parks. The program is designed to provide new ways of making park visitors feel welcome, and to expand engagement in park and trail systems.
