Star Group LLC brings NAPA back to rural communities

In July of 2021, STAR Group LLC opened the Napa Auto Parts store in Montevideo. The opening marked the group’s 15th location in Minnesota. With the help of Double D Development LLC of Montevideo, along with other local contractors, much remodeling went into the building located at 2002 Black Oak Ave. The Napa store is located in one-third of the building, and holds the largest inventory of all of STAR Group LLC’s stores. They are able to source parts from 57 distribution centers throughout the United States, and carry a large inventory of hydraulic hoses.

Wing-Bain in business since 1892

Wing-Bain Funeral Home is the longest continual business serving the community of Granite Falls. Its beginnings can be traced back to 1892 – 1893 when Henry Hamre began his undertaker career. “Since those early years, Wing-Bain Funeral Home (formerly Hamre), has carried on a tradition of compassionate, dignified and professional service to people during their time of need,” says business partner Everett Bain.

City council hears report on 2022 Street project bids

At the regular monthly meeting of the Granite Falls City Council, the 2022 Street and Utility Improvements project was discussed, with bids being reviewed. City Engineer Mike Amborn was at the meeting to present the council with information about the bids received. The project for 2022 includes complete street reconstruction, sanitary sewer replacement, water main replacement, storm sewer replacement, and other associated items that would need to be replaced or repaired alongside the work for multiple streets in town.

Kiwanis Popcorn Stand opens early for the season

The iconic Granite Falls Kiwanis Popcorn Stand opened a couple of days earlier than expected, opening Friday, April 29th. The popcorn stand, located along the Minnesota River in downtown Granite Falls was originally scheduled to open on May 1st but advertised an early open on social media for followers of the tradition eager for their first taste of the season.
