Employees from Avera working in Granite Falls, Marshall and Tyler held their workplace campaign to benefit United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN). Employees contributed $9,120 through payroll pledges, donations and special events. Avera made an additional investment of $5,411 for a total campaign of $14,531.

For more than 20 years, the nine districts making up the Minnesota River Valley Education District (MRVED), have benefitted from a conference that takes place annually that provides educational and networking opportunities. This week, after a one-year break due to COVID-19, educators from those districts gathered at the Lac qui Parle Valley High School once again for the annual MELT (MRVED Educators Learning Together) Conference.

I heard a comment the other day that it was good the early churches had so many issues, or we wouldn’t have many books in the New Testament and that’s very true. Of the 27 books in the New Testament, 21 are epistles. Epistles are letters written to churches and communities to help them understand how to live as Christians.

Two of the Yellow Medicine East Silhouettes Dance team members, Brooke Meyer and Kayla Nordaune have been chosen for the MADT All-State dance team 2022. Brooke Meyer was chosen for the Class A High Kick Team, while Kayla Nordaune was chosen for the Class A Jazz team. Lac qui Parle State Park is preparing for the return of the "Lake that Speaks" Lumiary Hike after last year's COVID-related cancellation of the event. This year, the event that has been held since 2015, will be held on January 15th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
