YME band students honored

This past weekend, Yellow Medicine East band students braved the cold and attended the SWMBDA Honor Band Festival all day in Marshall! These kids were nominated and then selected from forty-nine different schools in Southwest Minnesota. They worked hard over the past two months to prepare some challenging music and performed it with students selected from other schools after working on it all day with guest conductors.

CCM Health Welcomes Nicole Wellendorf, MSW, LICSW to its Behavioral Health Team

CCM Health is excited to welcome Nicole Wellendorf, MSW, LICSW to their Behavioral Health team. Nicole completed her education at Washington University in St. Louis and is board certified in Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work, is a Rostered Child Parent Psychotherapy and Certified Attachment Biobehavioral Catchup clinician and is Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health certified. Nicole will begin seeing patients at CCM Health in January 2025.

Free performance held downtown

On Saturday January 18th, Clarkfield musician Betsy Pardick performed for a crowd of over 40 people. This was Pardick’s first time playing at Bluenose Gopher Public House in over a year and her first solo appearance, “I’ve always played in bands with others, I don’t typically play alone. I had a residency at the YES! House last year and I have a goal to play more music by myself,” said Pardick. She was joined on stage by Malena Handeen on accordion and Damen Tesch playing acoustic guitar throughout her performance. Handeen and Tesch took to the stage during Pardick’s intermission and again when they finished an encore with Pardick.

USDA announces 2025 enrollment periods for Crop and Dairy Safety-Net Programs

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the 2025 enrollment periods for key safety-net programs – Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) as well as Dairy Margin Coverage (DMC). Agricultural producers can submit applications to USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) for ARC and PLC for the 2025 crop year from Jan. 21 to April 15 and for DMC for the 2025 coverage year from Jan. 29 to March 31.

CHILDCARE AWARE PART 2 OF A 3 PART SERIES: Childcare Aware program awarded grant funds to assist local providers

For more than 30 years, Prairie Five has been a part of Child Care Aware of America (CCAoA). The program is a national organization that supports, they say, every part of the child care system through a network of child care resource organizations working in communities. The national organization provides research that drives policy and practice, and helps to build child care programs and providers, but also works with families and employers to find child care solutions.

LSP’s 5 year plan focuses on new farmers, racial & economic justice,ag consolidation, rural economies, soil health, climate resilience

The Land Stewardship Project (LSP) today released a strategic plan that describes how, during the next five years, the Minnesota-based organization will work with its members and allies to support the next generation of farmers and drive rural economic revitalization via community-based food systems, as well as help farmers adopt soil health practices that are profitable and that bolster climate resilience. The plan also lays out how LSP will work with groups led by people of color to organize around racial justice issues while pushing for fair market access for small and medium-sized farmers and fighting consolidation and the corporate-controlled industrialization of agriculture.
