Final performances scheduled for closing venue

Last Saturday night, Handeen and Associates, led by Milan area musician Malena Handeen took the stage at Bluenose Gopher Public House for the last time for a free performance. The venue posted an announcement to social media February 6th that stated, in part, “These types of announcements are never easy. After 6 years of operation, we are closing Bluenose Gopher Public House. The Public House has been a center of art, music, creativity and community events in our little corner of the state. We have been blessed by so many wonderful artists and musicians over the years! To our volunteers and employees, past and current, we can’t express how much you mean to us. To the members and patrons who frequented Bluenose, we want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Your support and the community you built will forever be appreciated! The last day for the Public House will be Saturday, February 22.” The last opportunities to catch live local musicians performing with no cover charge at the venue happen this Friday night with a performance by Charlie Shivers from 7-9 p.m., and Saturday night with a performance by Flute Loops from 7-10 p.m.

School Board hears reports, discusses legislative session

It’s definitely a day brightener.”
