Live Well, Age Wisely: Insights into Dementia-Related Behaviors…

My position at Prairie Five is funded in part by a grant from the Southwest Initiative Foundation. Without this wonderful organization investing in our rural areas, we would not have robust aging services programming at our agency. Currently, my position is also funded in part by federal Title III dollars which were awarded by the Minnesota River Area Agency on Aging (MNRAAA.) Hot weekend ahead

We enjoyed one of the nicest Memorial Day weekends in recent memory! Early on there were some indications of a slight chance of rain impacting the area, but it all tracked to our south on Memorial Day.

Local musicians gather for final RVR Artist Salon of the season

Last week, the YES! House welcomed the final River Valley Ripple Artist of the season, Mike Gill, who hosted the artist salon “Music Theory in Motion”. Gill shared his knowledge of the Minor Pentatonic scale in an interactive way, inviting guests to bring their own instruments to play along. The group also practiced a call and response method before Gill provided a live music set. The RVR Artist Residency program is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

75-year recognition award for conservation

A 75-year recognition award was presented to Yellow Medicine Soil & Conservation Board Supervisors by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources in recognition of bringing water management and conservation to the people and lands of Yellow Medicine County. Police Chief gives update including ordinance enforcement, stolen vehicles

At Monday evening’s meeting of the Granite Falls City Council, Police Chief Brian Struffert gave an update on the department’s work over the last couple of months, noting that call volumes are normal. “There are a lot of simple calls that are handled and cleared up without a whole lot of work,” he noted. “We had some extra time to work on traffic enforcement of March.”
