At Monday evening’s meeting of the Granite Falls City Council, council members were provided an update on plans for a third city well. Public Works staff member Chris Anderson, who oversees the water plant, wastewater plant, hydro plant, tree maintenance and well sites, presented updates on both the quotes received for the purchase of a new pickup truck and progress on the third municipal well.
Question: I have been receiving text messages about an “E-Z Pass Final Reminder.” It’s something about having an outstanding toll and submitting payment. I was told it was a scam. Can you get me more information on this?

In the annual update to the Granite Falls City Council at last week’s meeting, Avera administrator Tom Kooiman offered a look at current operations, staff transitions and the future vision for Avera Granite Falls Hospital and Clinic.
We enjoyed one of the nicest Memorial Day weekends in recent memory! Early on there were some indications of a slight chance of rain impacting the area, but it all tracked to our south on Memorial Day.
Last week, the YES! House welcomed the final River Valley Ripple Artist of the season, Mike Gill, who hosted the artist salon “Music Theory in Motion”. Gill shared his knowledge of the Minor Pentatonic scale in an interactive way, inviting guests to bring their own instruments to play along. The group also practiced a call and response method before Gill provided a live music set. The RVR Artist Residency program is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
A 75-year recognition award was presented to Yellow Medicine Soil & Conservation Board Supervisors by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources in recognition of bringing water management and conservation to the people and lands of Yellow Medicine County. At Monday evening’s meeting of the Granite Falls City Council, Police Chief Brian Struffert gave an update on the department’s work over the last couple of months, noting that call volumes are normal. “There are a lot of simple calls that are handled and cleared up without a whole lot of work,” he noted. “We had some extra time to work on traffic enforcement of March.”
