Curt Holt, former Football Coach and teacher at GFHS from 1956 to 1961 passed away on February 4th. The funeral date has not been set. Curt and his wife moved from California to Plymouth, Minnesota a few years ago. His wife passed away three years ago. If you have any questions, please call me at 320-564-3937.

Notes from the Granite Area Arts Council

“One of the neat things about Granite Falls,” I said to a poet from Chicago last Saturday evening, “is how great our small community is at celebrating the arts.” We Minnesotans are not known for our bragging abilities, but I couldn’t help it: at our writing-conference dinner party, we’d been talking about how places that are, say, covered in vibrant murals tend to be healthier places, and why that might be. I was proud to have a shining example on hand.

District Eight receives $4.4 million dollar federal award to improve safety

The Minnesota Department of Transportation - District 8 is receiving a $2.5 million dollar federal award to improve safety at the intersection of Highway 23 and Highway 9 in New London and a $1.9 million dollar award to install rumble strips on state highways throughout District 8. The funding is made possible through the Highway Safety Improvement Program, also known as HSIP.

Cherry Streusel Bars 2/3 Cup Butter 2 Cups Flour 1/2 Cup Sugar 1 Can Cherry Pie Filling 1/2 Cup Coconut or Chopped Nuts Cut butter into flour and sugar, and mix until particles are fine (low speed on mixer).

But getting parks improved, trails built and other facilities constructed often involves finding a pathway through a tangle of regulations and funding challenges. That can be frustrating but it can also be rewarding and fun, if the effort results in a new park, trail or recreation area.

Direct Assistance to Crime Victims Survivors Bill Becci ten Bensel & Women’s Rural Advocacy Program Staff The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Justice Programs (OJP) distributes approximately $54 million annually in state and federal funds to programs across Minnesota providing services to crime victims. The Minnesota OJP has informed all current grantees, including WRAP (Women’s Rural Advocacy Programs), that all states are receiving VOCA reductions.
