New education requirements in effect July 1 for some boaters in Minnesota
Beginning July 1, 2025, more people who operate motorboats or personal watercrafts on Minnesota waters must obtain a valid watercraft operator’s permit. The updated requirements, passed into law during 2023, are intended to make boating safer by ensuring people operating motorized watercraft know the rules and are properly trained.

YME baseball takes wins over MCC, RTR

YME softball finishes season
Last week, the Yellow Medicine East Varsity Softball team took on Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian School for a 1-4 loss, finishing the season with a 14-8 record. Leaders in the game included Ella Cherveny who was 1-for-2 with two walks. Complete scoring follows:

YME senior headed to State Track meet
Klaira Shackelford is going to State Track and Field Tournament in the Pole Vault competition. Shackleford placed 2nd at the Section 3A Track Meet last week with a vault of 9’ 5” and will be competing on June 11th at 3:30 PM at St. Michael Albertville in the State Track Meet.

Last week, the Yellow Medicine East Boys Varsity Baseball team defeated MACCRAY 4-3 at home. Leaders in the game included Braden Nelson who was 3-for-5 with a double, one run and an RBI. Complete scoring follows:

Last week, players from Yellow Medicine East’s Varsity Boys Tennis team traveled to the Huether Family Match Pointe in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the Section 3A Individual tournament.
