The powerful Yellow Medicine East boys tennis team held its first preseason practice Monday, and is scheduled to begin its 2023 season April 11 at home against Minnewaska Area at 4:30 p.m. .

YME Trap Shooting starts this week

The Yellow Medicine East High School Trap Teams SPRING 2023 season will get started on Sunday, March 26th at 1:30 pm. There are nine shoots total. Five of those shoots are for the conference competition rounds against other schools. This also includes a State Championship in June. This year the team has 18 athletes who will compete with individual scores and a team of five in whatever class they qualify in. This year’s team includes four-Seniors, four-Juniors, two-Sophomores, two-Freshman, two in eighth grade, two in seventh grade and one in sixth grade with one of them being brand new to the team. “We are looking forward to a great season,” says Coach/ Manager Sandy Berthelsen. YME’s Trap Team shoots at the Minnesota Heartland Preserve just outside of Granite Falls.

Mark this down in pen: Yellow Medicine East will field one of its finest ever varsity softball teams this spring. The Sting are returning seven starters, including All-Camden Conference catcher and four-year varsity starter Aria Peters, and ace pitcher Bayli Sneller, a hard-throwing freshman righthander with plenty of varsity experience.

Local duo take lead in standard doubles in Reno

Chad Reimer (Granite Falls) and Justin Weckwerth (Montevideo) come from small towns in western Minnesota where everyone knows your name. On Tuesday night at the National Bowling Stadium, they were able to put together a score of 1,136 to take the lead in Standard Doubles at the 2023 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships, giving the bowling world the chance to know their names.
