On Tuesday, the YME Volleyball team took on Canby at home for a 1-3 loss. Leaders in the game included Aria Peters who scored 32 set assists, while Ruby Bones scored 20 kills and two ace serves. Yellow Medicine East Cross Country teams hosted an invitational at the Granite Run Golf Course last week. Leaders for YME included Dylan Castillo who placed 55th for the boys with a final time of 21:22; Connor Olson finishing 83rd with a time of 22:41; and Xavier Mikel finishing 93rd with a time of 24:35.
On Sunday, October 2nd the Yellow Medicine East Trap team participated in the second conference competition. Logan Hoff shot a perfect score. He is the first to shoot a perfect score of 25/25 on the new fields built just for the Trap team with a grant. “He was trying so hard for 50/50 but didn’t quite make it. His total score for the day was 46/50 - very impressive,” says YME Trap coach Sandra Berthelsen. Ryan Brouwer also shot a perfect score of 25/25. Pictured are the perfect score shooter’s of the day with their state league patch given for that perfect score. “Congratulations on some really great shooting Logan and Ryan - you make us coaches hold our breath on those last shots as we score and watch this very exciting experience,” says Berthelsen. Yellow Medicine East hosted Canby in their Homecoming game Friday evening for a 28-14 victory. The game brings the team to a 2-2 standing.
