DNR preparations for fishing season opener May 14th

Regional fishing reports available from DNR in preparation of fishing opener Anglers looking for local information before the Saturday, May 14, fishing opener for walleye, bass, northern pike and trout in lakes can gain local knowledge by looking at regional fishing reports from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The regional fishing reports include details about waters throughout each region and can be found on the DNR website (mndnr.gov/Fishing/Outlooks. html).

Minnesota Twins offer free hats

Anyone with a 2022 Minnesota fishing or hunting license can receive a free camouflage and blaze orange Minnesota Twins logo cap thanks to a special ticket offer. That’s right — the Minnesota DNR Days are back at Twins games this season, through a partnership between the Twins and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

YME tennis team plays Minnewaska

The YME boys tennis team took on Minnewaska for 0-7 loss last Tuesday in a West Central Conference match in Granite Falls. Scoring from that event follows: Singles: Ean Clarke vs Tate Reichmann (M) 2-6, 1-6, Jackson Torgerson vs Gannon Walsh (M) 1-6, 2-6, Ryan Syring vs Ethan Quelle (M) 1-6, 5-7, Derrick Lien vs Alec Larson (M) 0-6, 2-6.

YME hosts multi-school track meet

Last Thursday, Yellow Medicine East hosted a multi-school track meet, scoring 9th overall for the girl’s team with a total score of 29.5, and 9th overall for the boys team with a total score of 34. Leading for the girls team was Nicole Rillo who scored 13-11.5 in the Long Jump, and 23-2.75 in the Triple Jump.

YME defeats Lakeview in double-header

Last week, the YME Softball team took on Lakeview in Cottonwood for a 14-0 win in game one of a double-header event. In the first game, Jenna Weier led the team in pitching, striking out nine of the Lakeview players, walking one, with only one hit. Bayli Sneller hit a triple, with 12 walks.
