YME Trap Team 2022 Spring season begins March 27th

The Yellow Medicine East High School Trap Team will get started for the season on Sunday, March 27th with their first official practice shoot. Anyone can watch, learn, and cheer them on starting at 1:30 pm at the Minnesota Heart land Preserve just outside of Granite Falls. The team is now on its fifth season. They have twenty athletes signed up and registered with five of those being new team members. The team includes three seniors, four juniors, four sophomores, one freshman, three in eighth grade, three in seventh grade, and two sixth graders. The team welcomes the community to watch a safe, fun season!! The end of the season will include a State Championship shoot in Alexandria sometime in June.

YME boys basketball team takes loss to MACCRAY

On Thursday, the Yellow Medicine East boys basketball team played in the first round of the Section 3A-North playoffs against MACCRAY, taking a 69-93 loss. Leaders int hat game included Nikson Knapper, who scored 19 points with three steals, while Isaac Jiminez added another 16 points with five rebounds to the team total. It’s the time of year when anglers and hunters need to buy new fishing and hunting licenses. Minnesota fishing, hunting and trapping licenses for 2021 expire Mon day, Feb. 28. Licenses for 2022 are now available wherever fishing and hunting licenses are sold, online (mndnr.gov/ BuyALicense) and by telephone at 888-665-4236. Mobile buyers receive a text or email that serves as proof of a valid fish or game license to state conservation officers.

YME girls basketball team defeats St. Mary’s, ends season 13-11 at sections

Tuesday evening the Yellow Medicine East girls basketball team defeated second-ranked in the state in Class A Sleepy Eye St. Mary's in a home game 76-74. Leaders in that game included Shelby Mortenson who scored 24 points, 11 rebounds, while Hannah Stark added 20 points with four steals. Complete scoring from that game follows:
