Frank George Kranitz was born on August 31, 1937, the son of Michael and Ione (Davis) Kranitz, in Minneapolis. He came from a large family and grew up in Minneapolis and attended Franklin High School in Minneapolis.
Frank met Arlys Ellingson at a ballroom in Minneapolis. They were united in marriage on March 2, 1957, at Granite Falls Lutheran Church. Frank and Arlys made their home in Granite Falls and were blessed with three daughters – Kim, Kelly, and Karri. Frank enjoyed spending time with his “girls” and their families.
Frank was happiest with his head under the hood of a vehicle. He worked as a mechanic and liked working on old cars. Frank first worked at Granite Motors from 1957 until 1990. Following that, he worked for Viessman Trucking in Marshall for 12 and a half years before retiring. Being a man that liked to stay busy, he also worked at the Granite Meal Site until he was 80 years old.
Frank enjoyed playing cards and bingo, hunting and fishing. He was his family’s greatest supporter and was dearly loved by each in return. Frank enjoyed people and if you met him, you had a friend for life.
