Since November, ECHO Charter School Board member Mark Hoeper has been coming to ECHO to read to elementary students in the library twice a week. Hoeper brings boxes of donated books to give to each of the students who attend his reading sessions. The books come from a variety of sources including The YES! House (Granite Falls), the school itself and his own collection. He lets the students take turns choosing which books he will read to them. Hoeper hopes to instill a sense of excitement about reading and to demonstrate good reading skills such as inflection.
