Seeking to improve and lift up their community, the CACF (Clarkfield Area Community Foundation) passed out a variety of grants during their annual event on September 29 at the Filling Station.

The grants added up to a total $7301.28 worth of funds being invested in the Clarkfield Community by the Foundation. Eleven grants were issued in total to Clarkfield organizations such as the Clarkfield Area Charter School, the Fire Department, and the Garden Club.

“We have been very successful in the community of Clarkfield with fundraising, and the endowment fund continues to grow,” said CACF  member Berdette Schoep. This year we were able to put over $7,000 back toward the community, which is remarkable for a community of this size.”

Schoep said the addition of a  $20,000 Challenge Grant by the F&M Bank of Clarkfield helped the community to build the endowment over fund to over $200,000 in 2015.
Come next year, the CACF will be  a to use a new Challenge Grant from the Southwest Initiative Fund (SWIF). If the CACF raises $10,000 in funds, SWIF has pledged to match up to $5,000.

Said Schoep, The key of being successful is to have a goal. We always have a goal of what we want to do, and the community work together to meet it.”
