That is the title of a flyer recently sent home with Bert Raney Elementary students.  The idea is to provide information to parents of young children regarding the benefits of the Granite Falls Area Community Foundation.  The GFACF is currently participating in a “Challenge Grant” with the Southwest Initiative Fund whereby a match will be provided, dollar for dollar, for all funds received from this particular effort.

In brainstorming how the local Foundation could take advantage of this opportunity, the group came upon the idea of informing the ‘young’ people of our community of the advantages of Community Giving.  The grant involves asking persons ‘under the age of 40’ to contribute to the Area Foundation.  The foundation feels by directly informing parents of the projects GFACF has funded that they would see the impacts of local granting.  Since 2009 almost $10,000 has been directed to the Yellow Medicine East School District.

Programs for reading, theater, robotics, and music to name a few, have allowed the YME educators to provide those ‘extras’ that allow our children to have expanded experiences.

Therefore, the foundation is asking parents to consider a donation to the GFACF with the knowledge that whatever you give will be matched at 100 percent; thus doubling your contribution.

The Challenge Grant runs through May of this year.  It is believed the community can reach a local giving amount of $1,000 that will then result in a total of $2,000.
If individuals are unable to get a green flyer, they can send their donation to GACF, P.O. Box 143, Granite Falls 56241 or donate online at granitefallsfoundation.org and click on Donate.   Thank you from the Foundation Board Granite Falls Area Community Foundation
