Pioneer Public Television welcomes Deb Monahan who will serve as the new chief financial officer for the award-winning PBS station which serves more than one million households in parts of five states in the upper Midwest.

Monahan was born on a farm near Watson and has lived in Montevideo with her husband Bill for the past thirty-one years. Prior to joining Pioneer, Monahan served as the business manager for ISD #129 in Montevideo.

“After a great career at ISD #129, I was just ready for a change, but wasn’t ready to retire," said Monahan. “The Pioneer position is the perfect fit for me,” she added. “I love the excitement of moving to the new facility in Granite Falls and look forward to becoming part of the family here at Pioneer Public TV!”

Monahan has a degree in business administration from Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) in Marshall. She joins Pioneer as it begins to make a year-long relocation to a new state-of-the-art television campus in Granite Falls. The new studio was constructed on donated land along Highway 23 as a result of a generous gift by Ron and Diane Fagen. Funds from the Minnesota Legislature were recently secured to construct microwave relay connections to Pioneer’s transmitter site in Appleton and to outfit the building with new furniture and equipment. Pioneer has begun laying the groundwork for a capital campaign that will raise funds for new programs, staff development and civic engagement efforts to make the new studio a regional communications hub for western and southwestern Minnesota, the eastern Dakotas and northwestern Iowa.

“We are thrilled to have Deb serving as our CFO during this exciting and critical time of growth and change,” said General Manager Les Heen. “She is the right person, with the right set of skills at the right time," he added.
